Honda Center has Achieved GBAC Star™ Facility Accreditation

Sep. 11, 2020

The Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a division of ISSA, has awarded Honda Center the gold standard for prepared facilities, the GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation. Home to the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, the Orange County arena becomes the first NHL-specific venue to receive the industry’s highest-level outbreak prevention, response, and recovery accreditation.  Under the guidance of GBAC, Honda Center has implemented the most stringent protocols for cleaning, disinfection and infectious disease prevention at its facility.

“The GBAC STAR accreditation is a significant recognition of our commitment to our community, and supports our top priority, which has always been the safety of our guests, performers, athletes, and team members,” said Tim Ryan, Honda Center and ocV!BE Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to the day when we are permitted to welcome back guests to Honda Center, where they can enjoy the best in live entertainment and sports, while feeling confident in the policies and procedures our team has put in place.”

To achieve GBAC STAR™ accreditation, Honda Center was required to demonstrate compliance with the program’s 20 core elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness and response measures. As the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation, GBAC STAR™ helps organizations establish protocols and procedures, offers expert-led training and assesses a facility’s readiness for biorisk situations. The program verifies that Honda Center implements best practices to prepare for, respond to and recover from outbreaks and pandemics.

“GBAC STAR accreditation empowers facility owners and managers to assure workers, customers and key stakeholders that they have proven systems in place to maintain clean and healthy environments,” said GBAC Executive Director Patricia Olinger. “By taking this important step to pursue GBAC STAR, Honda Center has received third-party validation that it follows strict protocols for biorisk situations, thereby demonstrating its preparedness and commitment to operating safely.”
