Ducks and Honda Center Management Solidify Contract Extension With City of Anaheim

Nov. 20, 2018

At tonight’s Anaheim city council meeting, members of the council voted in favor of a multi-faceted agreement that extends AAM’s contract for at least the next 25 years. The deal extends the partnership between the organization and the city, securing the Anaheim Ducks and the best entertainment in Orange County, while advancing the ARTIC transportation hub, and long-term, Anaheim’s vision of the Platinum Triangle.

"Today marks an exciting next step in our partnership with the city of Anaheim," said Chairman of the Board of Anaheim Arena Management, Michael Schulman. "We are grateful for the opportunity to continue helping the city move forward with its grand vision for the Platinum Triangle.”

The commitment to the next 25 years and beyond allows the organization to continue to bring world-class entertainment to Orange County and invest resources back into the facility to elevate the guest experience. As part of the agreement, the organization takes on the management of the ARTIC transportation hub across the street from Honda Center, allowing the ability to manage the guest experience from arrival to departure.

"We are excited to strengthen our partnership with the city of Anaheim as we continue to bring the very best in sports and entertainment to Honda Center. This long-term agreement allows us to move forward with multi-million dollar upgrades to the facility and develop new amenities for artists, promoters, and partners in one of the best markets in the world,” said Honda Center's President/CEO, Tim Ryan.

The multi-faceted agreement includes four main components:

Anaheim Ducks: NHL's Anaheim Ducks will remain in Anaheim through 2048 with the option of five, five-year extensions and proudly feature Anaheim in the team's name.

Honda Center: Anaheim Arena Management will continue to manage the facility through 2048 with the option of five, five-year extensions. AAM will continue to invest in the building in an effort to continually improve the guest experience.

Parking Lots: Honda Center management will purchase surface parking lots around the venue currently marked as Lots 1, 3, 4, and 5. The requirement to maintain a minimum of 3,900 parking spaces for games and events at the facility will remain.

ARTIC: An affiliate of AAM will assume managerial duties at Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC) through 2048 with the option of five, five-year extensions. The city of Anaheim will maintain ownership of the transit hub.
