Zegras
is a Calder Finalist; Ducks to Pick 10th in the Draft
Though the Ducks season ended earlier this
month, the news about the team keeps coming, as Trevor
Zegras was named a finalist for the Calder Trophy given to
the NHL's top rookie. The 21-year-old Zegras is the third
player in franchise history to be named a Calder Trophy
finalist (no Duck has won the trophy), joining Bobby Ryan in
2008-09 (finished second in voting) and Paul Kariya in
1994-95 (finished third in voting).
Zegras joins
Toronto’s Michael Bunting and Detroit defenseman Moritz
Seider as the top three contenders for the Calder Trophy
this year. The winners of the 2022 NHL Awards will be
revealed during the Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Final,
with exact dates, format and times to be announced.
Meanwhile, the Ducks drew the 10th overall
selection for the 2022 NHL Draft as part of last week's NHL
Draft Lottery. The top ranked prospects by NHL Central
Scouting include center Shane Wright (Kingston, OHL), center
Logan Cooley (USNTDP), left wing Cutter Gauthier (USNTDP),
center Matthew Savoie (Winnipeg, WHL), center Conor Geekie
(Winnipeg, WHL), defenseman Pavel Mintyukov (Saginaw, OHL),
left wing Juraj Slafkovsky (TPS, Finland), right wing Joakim
Kemell (JYP, Finland), defenseman Simon Nemec (Nitra,
Slovakia) and defenseman David Jiricek (Plzen, Czechia).
Anaheim currently owns eight picks (two first-round
selections) in the 2022 NHL Draft, which will be held in
Montreal over two days. Round 1 will take place on Thursday,
July 7, followed by Rounds 2-7 on Friday, July 8.

Orange
Alliance Members Paint the Ice
It's an end-of-season
tradition at Honda Center, and a great benefit exclusive to
Orange Alliance members as they got the opportunity to paint the ice at Honda
Center before it's removed for the summer.
Fans added their own
custom messages and drawings for the team and their favorite
players, notably for recently retired captain Ryan Getzlaf.
