Santa Claus is coming to town in a bus and is looking to
Orange County to help fill it with toys. The Orange County Transportation
Authority (OCTA) is teaming up with ABC7, Honda Center and the Anaheim Ducks to
support the Spark of Love toy drive by stuffing a bus with toys.
“This program assures a brighter holiday season for thousands of kids in
Southern California and we’re thrilled to once again play a part,” said Tim
Ryan, Honda Center CEO/President and Ducks Executive VP/COO. “We’re confident
the Orange County community will turn out in force to give generously to the
less fortunate children in our area.”
The annual Stuff-A-Bus event will take place from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.,
Friday, Dec. 19 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. The public is encouraged to
bring new, unwrapped toys and sporting equipment to the Honda Center parking lot
at 2695 E. Katella Ave.
Toys collected will be distributed to children in the local community. Last
year, two 60-foot, 22-ton OCTA articulated buses were filled with more than
7,500 toys.
“For those of us blessed to celebrate a plentiful holiday, this a great
opportunity to spread the joy to those in need,” said OCTA Vice Chairman Peter
Buffa. “By donating a single toy, you can bring some much needed cheer to an
Orange County child.”
Garth Kemp of the ABC7 Morning News will be on-site to greet the public and
broadcast live throughout the morning.
For 16 years ABC7 and firefighters from Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San
Bernardino and Ventura counties have come together to support the Spark of Love
toy drive for the children in our communities.
