Plus The Men And Women Of Team USA To Unite After Beijing For The 2008 Tour Of Gymnastics
Superstars
Just back from China, the country’s most celebrated gymnasts including reigning
World Champion Shawn Johnson, 9-time World Championship medalist Nastia Liukin,
and 2005 All-Around World Champion Chellsie Memmel, will join Paul Hamm, Morgan
Hamm, Shannon Miller, Blaine Wilson and the U.S. gymnastics team for The 2008 Tour
of Gymnastics Superstars. A nationally televised special airing on MyNetwork TV
on September 19th from 8:00-10:00pm (EST) will kick off the two month trek across
the United States bringing world class gymnastics and music from Disney’s hottest
young recording artists to Honda Center on September 20.
The 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars will offer fans a unique opportunity to see
some of their favorite gymnasts perform live in an extraordinary sports and music
extravaganza. In addition to medal-worthy athletic routines the show will feature
songs from the Walt Disney Records’ Disney Girlz Rock 2 CD and live performances
from teen sensations Jordan Pruitt and KSM. Jordan`s new album, Permission to Fly
features the single "One Love" and is currently available exclusively at Limited
Too stores. KSM recorded the show’s theme song, “Hero in You,” a new pop/rock anthem
written and produced by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil of “High School Musical”
fame. KSM’s debut album is set for release in 2009.
“I am honored to be representing the U.S. this summer and hope to have the U.S.
on the podium, but I am also looking forward to coming back from China and going
out each night to have fun performing for my fans who have supported me since I
started competing,” said reigning World Champion Shawn Johnson.
“I have travelled the world competing and now I have the chance to share my love
and passion for gymnastics with millions of fans all over the US,” said Nastia Liukin,
9 time World Championship Medalist.” Promoting the sport I love so much has always
been one of the reasons I started as a young girl. I hope my fans are as excited
to see me on the tour as I am to see them.”
Paul Hamm and Morgan Hamm both recently had to resign their positions on the team
to recover from multiple injuries but they continue to train and look forward to
the opportunity to get back out there and do what they love. The Hamm brothers will
be reunited with their teammates from China and fans will get a chance to see them
do what they do best.
The 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars is sanctioned by USA Gymnastics, the national
governing body of gymnastics in the United States.
