Anaheim, Ca. - One of the most exciting, charismatic fighters in the world - two-time world champion Jorge 'Travieso' Arce of Los Mochis, Mexico - and a compelling middleweight showdown between unbeaten Kelly Pavlik and former Mexican Olympian Jose Luis Zertuche will be on Top Rank's big championship fight card at Honda Center on Saturday, Jan. 27.
In the main event Arce, 45-3-1 with 35 knockouts, will take on top-rated Julio Roque Ler, 23-1 with 14 knockouts, of Cordoba, Argentina.
Arce, unbeaten in his last 25 bouts, has declared himself as "pound for pound, the world's best" and added "no one can beat me.
He became a national celebrity in Mexico after appearing on the reality show ‘Big Brother V.I.P.’
"I was there two and a half months with that show and it took my stardom to a new level. I am the most recognized boxer in Mexico today," Arce said. "I box, I win and I put on a great show.
Arce is a two-time world champion at light flyweight and flyweight is presently rated WBC #1 as a super flyweight. Roque is rated #3 by the WBA also at 115 pounds.
Pavlik vs. Zertuche is an all-out crunching showdown between two top middleweights. Pavlik, from Youngstown, Ohio, is 29-0 with 26 knockouts. He is rated WBC #2, WBA #4, WBO #5. Zertuche, 19-3-2 with 14 KOs, is from Mexico City. He is a very popular fighter, all-action performer in the ring and is looking forward to taking on Pavlik who attacks fiercely and is an extremely hard puncher.
The undercard will feature future star Vanes Martirosyan, an 11-0 junior middleweight from Glendale, Calif. Martirosyan, the 'Nightmare,' is an action performer and is one of Top Rank's best prospects.
Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. with the first bout at 4:15 p.m. The Home Box Office (HBO) telecast will begin 7:15 p.m.
