John R. Wooden Classic Tickets On-Sale
UCLA vs. Texas A&M; USC vs. George Washington on Saturday, December 9, 2006
Anaheim, CA (October 11, 2006) – College basketball returns to Honda Center, formerly Arrowhead Pond on Saturday, December 9 for the annual John R. Wooden Classic. For more than a decade, top basketball programs have been featured in this doubleheader named after legendary basketball coach John Wooden. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m.
This year, the UCLA Bruins, in their tenth Wooden Classic appearance, will face the Texas A&M Aggies, while the USC Trojans take on the George Washington Colonials. This is the first Wooden Classic appearance for both the Aggies and Colonials. Both UCLA and Texas A&M are projected to be ranked in the pre season top 10.
In addition to college basketball, the week includes an annual charity golf tournament and banquet. The golf tournament is on Thursday, December 7 at Monarch Beach Golf Links in Dana Point. The banquet, which includes appearances by Coach Wooden and the four participating coaches, is on Friday, December 8 at the Anaheim Marriott. Both events benefit Special Olympics Southern California and Orangewood Children’s Foundation.
