WOLFGANG PUCK OPENS PUCK’S TAVERN AT HONDA CENTER
Thursday, January 09, 2014

Celebrated chef Wolfgang Puck and Wolfgang Puck Catering bring two new dining destinations to Honda Center: Puck’s Tavern, an approachable fine-dining restaurant serving modern comfort food and The Window at Puck’s Tavern, a made-to-order pizza concession stand, both located on the south side of the arena’s main level. Open during Honda Center events, Puck’s Tavern caters to both the general public and ticketholders alike. The 7,000 square-foot, indoor-outdoor restaurant features a direct entrance into the arena allowing for a seamless transition from a sit-down meal or private event to the evening’s entertainment. Puck’s Tavern’s seasonal menu consists of a diverse selection of simply prepared fare—highlighting both Puck’s renowned cuisine with his signature dishes along with new items unique to this location at Honda Center.

“This partnership with Honda Center is an exciting expansion into the sports and entertainment environment for Wolfgang Puck Catering, “ says Carl Schuster, CEO of Wolfgang Puck Catering. “With Puck’s Tavern, we’re proud to bring a new dining experience to Orange County and Honda Center for private event clients, concert-goers and diners alike.”

Overseeing the 230-seat restaurant is Executive Chef Karl Matz, a 10-year veteran of Wolfgang Puck’s corporate family. Paying tribute to stadium cuisine, the menu offers elevated takes on classics such as Poutine, fries with cheese curds and peppercorn gravy, a dish paying homage to both the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks, who call Honda Center home, and hockey’s Canadian roots; the Tavern Burger served on a brioche bun with aged cheddar and remoulade; and Chicken Wings with a sambal ginger glaze, scallions and toasted sesame. Distinct to Honda Center is the “Too Big for One” section, which offers a selection of larger plates ideal for sharing, including the Chirashi Zushi with assorted sashimi and sushi; and Shellfish “On Ice,” a seafood platter with fresh lobster, shrimp, oysters, clams and mussels.

Several of Master Chef Puck’s signature dishes make an appearance as well, including the Chinese Chicken Salad; Wienerschnitzel with Gruyere potato puree, arugula and mustard; and Smoked Salmon Pizza with dill crème fraiche, American caviar and chives. The ingredient-driven menu also offers seasonally changing items such as the Heirloom Apple Salad with Fuji apples, Maytag Blue Cheese and young greens with balsamic dressing; and Caramelized Butternut Squash Agnolotti with hazelnuts and sage. Rounding out the meal is a dessert selection of playful sweets such as a Maple Glazed Bacon Donut.

Puck’s Tavern’s 12-seat bar offers a full beverage program of signature cocktails, an extensive beer selection and a wine list comprised of Wolfgang Puck’s eponymous California-based wine label, along with other domestic and international varietals.

Ticketholders inside the arena looking for convenient, yet unique, stadium eats should head inside to The Window at Puck's Tavern, located near section 210, for made-to-order “pies and fries” – Wolfgang’s signature pizzas such as BBQ Chicken, Margherita and Fennel Sausage, the decadent Poutine, as seen on the restaurant’s regular menu and a selection of draft beer.

Whether it’s a wedding, convention gala, birthday, office gathering or any other noteworthy occasion, the Puck’s Tavern team offers planning and catering services year-round. Delivering a Wolfgang Puck quality-experience in the unique setting of Honda Center, Puck’s Tavern can entertain up to 200 guests while the outdoor Grand Terrace space holds up to 700. Additionally, Wolfgang Puck Catering is available for off-premise private events of any size throughout Orange County.

“We are thrilled to welcome Wolfgang Puck to Honda Center, knowing our fans will enjoy the delicious menu and creative culinary approach they are known for worldwide,” said Tim Ryan, President/CEO of Honda Center. “The opening of Puck’s Tavern and The Window at Puck’s Tavern aligns perfectly with our commitment to setting a new standard for arena dining, and a great experience for all our guests.”
