WoodenLegacy.pngThe New Multi-Team College Basketball Event Will See Eight Teams Battle To Become Champions

Tickets for The Wooden Legacy, an all-new multi-team collegiate basketball tournament, will go on sale Friday, September 27 at 12:00 PM (PT).  Eight teams are confirmed to compete in the highly anticipated event: Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton, College of Charleston, Creighton, George Washington, Marquette, Miami and San Diego State.

The tournament will be held at two sites over the 2013 Thanksgiving weekend, with the opening two rounds being played at Cal State Fullerton November 28 & 29, and four placement contests featuring the championship game Sunday, December 1 at Honda Center.

All-session tickets and individual tickets for Championship Sunday will be available at, via phone at (800) 745-3000 and all Ticketmaster outlets beginning Friday, September 27 at 12:00 PM (PT), and at the Honda Center Box Office beginning Saturday, September 28. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets by calling (714) 940-2859. Individual tickets for the opening two rounds can be purchased day-of-event only at the Cal State Fullerton Athletic Ticket Office.

The Wooden Legacy was formed as two vibrant, nationally-recognized collegiate basketball events joined forces, the former John R. Wooden Classic and the Anaheim Classic. A four-year agreement to present the event was established between ESPN Regional Television (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, Honda Center, UCLA, the Wooden family and Cal State Fullerton.

The event’s namesake, Coach John R. Wooden led UCLA to 16 conference championships in his 27-season stay in Westwood as the Bruins won an unprecedented 10 NCAA Championships in 12 years, including seven in-a-row.  UCLA also won 88-straight games during Wooden’s leadership to set a NCAA's all-time consecutive victory streak record during a four-season period (1970-1974).  He is the only coach to compile four undefeated seasons of 30-0 as he led UCLA to a 620-147 record.
